Vale begins registration for the R$100,000 donations to the families of each missing or deceased person

​​On Thursday, January 31, at 2:00pm, Vale commenced registration of those eligible to receive the R$100,000 donation to families that have lost family members (missing people or fatalities) in the breach of Dam I of the Córrego do Feijão mine in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Registrations on the first day took place from 2:00 to 6:00pm, and over the next days, the service will be available from 8:00 to 6:00pm, primarily at the Brumadinho Knowledge Center. It will be also possible to register at the Feijão Community Center.

Who is eligible?

Those eligible to receive the donation include representatives of Vale employees, third party employees and of the missing and/or deceased members of the community, as per the official list validated by the Civil Defense and made available on www.vale.com.

Only one representative can register to receive the donation, in the following order of preference: 1st – legal guardians of minor children; 2nd – spouse or common-law partner; 3rd – descendants, and 4th – ascendants (see details below).

The R$100,000.00 to be received is net of taxes, which will be collected by Vale. The representatives will receive the full amount.

Which list will be considered?

We will consider the official list validated by the Civil Defense released on the previous day.

Representatives of persons included in the list throughout the advised day can be assisted on that same day. Representatives of persons included in the list after the registration day previously advised and organized in alphabetical order will be assisted from February 6.

To expedite service and avoid unnecessary time in lines, the representative should go to the registration venue on the advised date, considering the alphabetic order of the first name of the deceased or missing relative, according to the table below.

Required documents

At the time of registration, applicants must present proof of family relationship and their original and updated personal data:

- Full name

- ID

- Social security number

- Date of birth

- Full address

- E-mail

- Phone number

- Bank details

Exceptional cases will be evaluated by Vale.

Registration guidelines

Only one representative of each family will receive the donation, in the following order of preference:

1st group – legal guardians of minor children

2nd group – spouse or common-law partner

3rd group – descendants, according to degree of kinship (siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren – in that order);

4th group – ascendants, according to degree of kinship (mother, father, grandparents, great grandparents – in that order);

To be eligible, representatives must present proof of family relationship, as follows:

1st group: order or letter of custody or guardianship of the children and/or the children’s birth certificates

2nd group: marriage certificate or common-law marriage affidavit

3rd group: proof of affiliation (e.g. birth certificate, passport, ID)

4th group: proof of affiliation (e.g. birth certificate, passport, ID).

Also, the representative’s personal data (full name, ID, social security number, date of birth, full address, e-mail, telephone and bank details). Required bank details include bank, bank number, branch number and account number – with digits – and type of account (savings or current).

Letters C and D – Friday, February 1

Letters E, F, G, H and I – Saturday, February 2

Letters J, K and L – Sunday, February 3

Letters S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z – Tuesday, February 5

From February 6, the service will be available to those unable to attend on the specified dates.

About the payment process:

Representatives who have bank account:

1) Fill out the registration form at the Knowledge Center or at the Feijão Community Center with personal data (full name, ID, social security number, date of birth, full address, e-mail, telephone and bank details) and bank details: bank, bank number, branch number and account number – with digits – and type of account (savings or current).

2) Documents will be analyzed by Vale. Time limit: within 48 calendar hours. Vale will contact each applicant to inform the request analysis result.

3) Once the representative meets the eligibility criteria and the account is validated, the money will be available in the informed account within three business days.

Representatives who do not have a bank account:

1) Fill out the registration form at the Knowledge Center or at the Feijão Community Center with personal data (full name, ID, social security number, date of birth, full address, e-mail, telephone and bank details. Temporary residence data may also be used as proof).

2) Vale will help representatives open their bank accounts. The data entered in the registration will be used to open a savings account at Banco do Brasil, through a simplified process.

Once the representative meets the eligibility criteria and the account is validated, the money will be available in the informed account within three business days.

Vale will contact each applicant to inform the request analysis result and guide the representative to go to the Banco do Brasil branch in Brumadinho for a biometric registration that will enable financial transactions.

Please, note: The representative can choose to open the account in a bank of his/her preference, and must return to the registration venue to inform the bank details and complete the registration.

Vale will help representatives reissue their documents if needed.
