Malaysia: Vale Minerals donates 20,000 Covid-19 test kits to the Ministry of Health of Malaysia

On April 30th, Vale Malaysia Minerals (VMM) made a donation of 20,000 Covid-19 test kits to the Malaysian Ministry of Health to help the government combat the spread of the illness in the country. The company offered support to the Malaysian Ministry of Health who identified these tests, which can provide results in just 15 minutes, as an important tool to help control the spread of the pandemic in the country. “Vale Malaysia Minerals offers this humanitarian support as we unite for the health and safety of Malaysia society”, said VMM’s CEO Rodrigo Araújo.

The company has also made other donations in Manjung where Vale Malaysia Minerals operates the Teluk Rubiah Maritime Terminal, totaling RM 85,000. On April 10th, VMM donated RM 25,000 in supplies to the Manjung Land and District Office to set up new Covid-19 screening centers. On April 17th, it donated RM 55,000 for 8 units of Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPR) to support the Manjung Hospital care for Covid-19 patients. On April 23rd, VMM donated RM 5,000 in thermometers and PPE to the Manjung Immigration officers who are in the frontline supporting the fight against the spread of Covid-19.

Vale is making use of its logistics network to bring important equipment to the countries and communities in which it operates, hoping to make a difference in the battle against Covid-19 and contribute to the wellbeing of local societies and communities.
