Seventh plane arrives in Brazil with equipment purchased by Vale in China

The seventh plane contracted to bring supplies purchased by Vale in China to fight the spread of the new coronavirus has landed today (April 26th) at Guarulhos International Airport (SP). The cargo of 2 million surgical masks and 410 thousand plastic vests will be donated to the Brazilian government to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

So far, Vale has passed 15.2 million of the 15.8 million personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Ministry of Health, in addition to the 3.5 million of the total 5 million rapid test kits already announced by the company. The cargo of the seventh aircraft - two airliners and five cargo planes - totals almost 241 tons, equivalent to the average weight of almost 241 common automobiles. The material was distributed in 20,055 boxes.

In total, Vale will bring more than 600 tons of equipment from China by May to help combat the new coronavirus in Brazil. In addition to the cargo, a further 5 million kits have been purchased by Brazilian banks with Vale´s logistical help in China, a country with which they have had a partnership for almost 50 years. There are also units - between PPEs and kits - that will be delivered to health care centers in regions where Vale operates. To bring everything, 15 aircraft will be needed (13 cargo planes and 2 airliners).
