Valor Inovação Award: Vale is the 1st in innovation in the Mining, Metallurgy and Steel sector

André Figueiredo during receiving the award, in São Paulo

Vale took first place in the Mining, Metallurgy and Steel category of the Valor Inovação Award. The result shows Vale's evolution in innovation. Last year, our company ranked second in the same category. In the general ranking, Vale rose from 42nd place to 17th as the most innovative company in Brazil.

The research for awards is the result of an exclusive and joint work between Valor Econômico newspaper and Strategy & consultancy, responsible for one of the most important global studies on the subject. The results are part of the Valor Inovação Brasil yearbook, which lists the 150 most innovative companies in the country, classified according to criteria established to reflect the Brazilian reality.

The executive manager of Investor Relations, André Figueiredo represented Vale at the award ceremony, which took place on July 4th, in São Paulo. According to him, the Innovation Value Award is a recognition of the innovative projects that have been adopted by Vale in recent years. Among them is, for example, the S11D Eliezer Batista Complex and the Vale Technological Institute.

We cannot fail to point out that the award also goes to employees who are in charge of Vale's broad program that foresees the adoption of technologies called Industry 4.0 in the company. This work has the power to promote integration between business areas around the world, reduce costs, simplify processes, increase productivity and operational efficiency, achieve the best health and safety rates, and improve environmental impact management
