Carajás Railroad Passenger Train

Carajás Railroad Passenger Train

The Carajás Railroad (EFC) passenger train links the states of Maranhão and Pará via 25 villages and towns. Safe and efficient, tickets for this service are up to 50% cheaper than road transportation, and it is the choice of 1,300 passengers per day.

Operating since 1986, the train departs the Anjo da Guarda railroad station in São Luís, Maranhão state, and continues to Parauapebas in southeastern Pará on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8h00 am. The return service runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. There is no service on Wednesdays.

Passengers have access to a refreshment car, air-conditioning, television, diaper change, first-aid post and a car for the disabled. For many local residents the EFC passenger train is the only available means of transportation during the rainy season, when many highways are inaccessible for cars and buses.
