The Vitória – Minas Railroad (EFVM) operates Brazil’s only daily passenger train, linking two state capitals: Vitória, in Espírito Santo and Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais state.
Trains depart daily at 7h00 am from Cariacica in the Metropolitan Region of Vitória, Espírito Santo, and arrive in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, around 8h10 pm; on the return trip, the train departs Belo Horizonte at 07h30 am, reaching its final destination at 8h30 pm. An additional train services the Itabira - Nova Era route in Minas Gerais.
Tickets should be purchased at least 30 minutes prior to the train’s departure. After that time, ticket offices will only sell tickets for trips scheduled the following day.
In operation since 1907, the service carries a million passengers per year on a route of 664 kilometers through areas of beautiful landscape and historic importance. The journey takes approximately 13 hours.
The train is equipped with a snack bar, restaurant car and exclusive car for people with special needs. The executive car is air-conditioned, and on-board waiter service is available in all cars.
