Congado Guard: culture and tradition that passes from generation to generation

Emotion and culture marked the launch of the exhibition Mineiridades in Congonhas, on August 9th. The public event, which is part of the Vale Itinerant Cultural Museum project, has already visited Nova Lima, Brumadinho and Ouro Preto, receiving more than 3 thousand people. The exhibition will be on display at the Congonhas Museum until September 24th. The Congado group was responsible for opening the event, which also counted on the presentation of the choir Cidade dos Profetas, a project previously supported by Vale.

Grocers provided Congonha tea and delicacies to welcome guests

In addition to the exhibition, the project also offers two workshops that will be held along the month: production of banners and sawdust carpets, two traditions of the city. To register for the event, please call (31) 3731-3979.

The Vale Itinerant Cultural Museum project aims to rescue the essence of being a citizen of Minas Gerais, taking part of the Vale Minas Gerais Cultural Museum collection to the cities where the company is present, in the countryside of Minas Gerais. “Our culture can’t die. Minas Gerais has a lot of good things! The exhibition is the opportunity for everyone to know a little more about the history of our state”, said the Culture secretary, Miriam Palhares.

The exhibition will be in Congonhas until September 24th at the Congonhas Museum, at Alameda Cidade Matosinhos de Portugal, 77, Basílica Congonhas. The museum is opened from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Wednesdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The next city to receive the exhibition will be Itabirito, in October. The event always brings a particularity about the municipality and its culture.
