Vale for Everyone

At Vale, we value diversity and promote equal opportunities for all people, regardless of cultural background, ideology, disability, gender, color, ethnicity, origin, or sexual orientation. We value and encourage every person’s development and qualification so that we join our efforts to build a better future.

Respect for individual differences is an essential part of our daily lives.

“There are many benefits to working in a diverse company; the sense of belonging is one of them. Knowing that we can be ourselves and our individual differences will be respected at the workplace. Knowing that our human condition, our physical, or cultural characteristics will not be an obstacle to our development.”

Willer Junior

Leader of Vale's LGBTQIA+ affinity group.

“Being a diverse company today is quite easy; you hire different people and the numbers speak for themselves. The real challenge lies in building an inclusive work environment. An inclusive work environment is one with a culture where people feel psychologically safe to express their true selves. Today, we have affinity groups formed by our employees and engaged leaders that take part in discussions about diversity, and we keep the subject on our managers and executive directors’ meeting agenda. That’s what we believe in.”

Flávia Dias Souza

Leader of the Women’s affinity group at Vale.

“UBUNTU is an African philosophy that emphasizes the importance of a group or community. In essence, this traditional African principle articulates basic respect for others. It can be interpreted either as a rule of conduct or social ethics. We hope that our individual differences are respected and valued and that our company is permeated by the Ubuntu philosophy, an environment free from any prejudice and discrimination.”

Vale’s Racial and
Ethnic Affinity Group

We are committed to gender equity and to recruiting a diverse group of professionals to ensure that our future leadership will be a diverse and inclusive one.

We are pursuing the goal of doubling Vale’s female workforce by 2030.

Thus, to reinforce this commitment to gender equity, 50% of the job vacancies in the Recent Graduates Programs 2021 will be allocated preferably to women. Our goal is to generate more opportunities as well as increase and retain women’s participation in mining activities, corroborating the progress and plurality in the industry. We also want to increase the representation of minority groups in leadership positions in our company and, therefore, encourage the participation of black community, LGBTI + and PCDs in the selection process.

Vale operates in three different regions across five Brazilian states and sees value in the possibility of finding talent throughout the national territory.

The fact that 25% of candidates in the last trainee recruitment cycle were from the Northern and Northeastern regions was a reason for pride and celebration. We want to make sure our professionals are increasingly valued and encourage you, no matter where you live or study, to be a part of our evolution.

A survey by Cia de Talentos pointed out that Vale ranks 2nd in the ranking of trainees as one of the 10 dream companies to work for.

Selection Process

Vale embraces diversity in all its forms. We believe that our company must reflect the plurality not only of the communities in which we operate but also of the entire world. Therefore, we will be taking a blind recruitment approach until the last stage of the selection process.

In this recruitment method, some data, such as gender, ethnicity, age, educational institution, address, and marital status, are omitted to avoid any unconscious bias during the selection process. In our selection process, we will evaluate your potential and capacity for future achievement.

Also, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have decided that the process will be online and remote to protect the physical integrity, health, and well-being of candidates.
