    Executive Vice President, Base Metals
    Mark Travers

    Mark Travers is the Executive Director of Base Metals, a position he has held on an interim basis since March 2019.

    Mark is passionate about sustainability and building a positive social, economic and environmental legacy in the communities where we operate, through responsible mining practices.

    Mark currently serves as President of PT Vale’s Board of Commissioners. Since joining Vale in 2001, he has held progressively senior roles in legal, institutional relations, corporate strategy and sustainability, including serving as General Counsel, Vale Canada Limited. Prior to joining Vale, Mark was a corporate and securities lawyer at Smith Lyons law firm in Toronto, Canada.

    He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario and a Joint Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws Degree from York University and Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.

  • Dino Otranto

    Chief Operating Officer, North Atlantic Operations​ - Vale Base Metals
    Dino Otranto

    In 2019, Dino Otranto was appointed Chief Operating Officer for Vale’s North Atlantic Operations and Asian Refineries, based out of Sudbury, Ontario. In this role, Dino is responsible for leading Vale’s Base Metals operations in Manitoba, Ontario, Newfoundland & Labrador and the UK, as well as two small refineries in China and Japan.

    A native of Germany, Otranto most recently served as Director, Technology & Development for Vale’s global Base Metals business in Toronto. He brings with him many years of operational leadership and experience with global mining companies, including BHP and South 32, where he served as Vice President Operations of the Company’s Worsley Alumina business.
