Sustainability and Institutional Relations Executive Officer, Luiz Eduardo Osorio, participated in the 15-year Forum of the Global Compact

On May 16th, the Sustainability and Institutional Relations Executive Officer, Luiz Eduardo Osorio, participated in the 15-year Forum of the Global Compact, in São Paulo. He made a presentation at the panel on Prioritization of Sustainable Development Objectives (SDO) in the Business Strategy. Osorio presented examples of Vale's sustainable performance, in line with the 17 SDOs. The forum was sponsored by Vale.

Luiz Eduardo Osorio talked about Vale’s sustainability actions

The Global Compact is an initiative developed by the UN to mobilize the business community for the adoption of fundamental and internationally accepted values in the areas of human rights, labor relations, the environment and the fight against corruption in its business practices. The initiative has participation of United Nations agencies, companies, unions, non-governmental organizations and other partners necessary to build a more inclusive and egalitarian global market. Today there are more than 5,200 signatory organizations coordinated by 150 networks around the world. The event remembered the 70 years of the Declaration of Human Rights, with a panel of reflection on diversity and gender equity in companies.

The Global Compact has a reference website on corporate citizenship with information on initiatives from UN offices, scheduled events and information on signatory companies in Brazil and worldwide. In addition to complementing corporate social responsibility practices and being a global commitment, the Global Compact is an important initiative and basis for the creation of ISO 26000 CSR.
