In Canada, Clean AER Project to cut SO2 emissions by 85%

Cleaner air, green landscape, more jobs: with benefits such as these, the Clean AER project, run by Vale in Canada, will not only help the environment, but it will also increase the quality of life in the city of Sudbury.

With funding of US$ 1 billion, this is the largest single environmental investment in the history of Sudbury– and one of the largest in Ontario. Visit the interactive infographics and see the transformations this project will generate:

The core of the project is an 85% reduction in sulfur dioxide emissions from Vale’s smelter in Sudbury, and a significant reduction in metals and particulate emissions. The project is expected to be complete in 2016.
