New Graduate Programs

Global Trainee

About the program​

If you are a natural leader that wants to build your professional career focusing on a broad perspective of global business strategy, this program is perfect for you.

Trainees will get hands-on experience to enhance their business skills: including project management, change management, and digital transformation. During their program, Trainees will work on important multidisciplinary projects for Vale, which will help them develop key leadership behaviours. By providing job rotations, this program allows recent graduates to gain a fulsome and integrated view of the business.

Who are we looking for?​

The Global Trainee program w​elcomes all recent graduates. Whether your field is geology, engineering, information technology, human resources, operating, accounting or environment and sustainability, we have a place for you.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an undergraduate university degree with graduation between May 2019 and May 2022
  • Willingness to develop skills necessary for strategic and leadership positions;
  • Align with company culture and values;
  • Strategic vision;
  • Broad understanding of Vale’s business practices;
  • Digital mindset;
  • Willingness to relocate or travel; and
  • Advanced or fluent in English.

Specialist Program

About the program​

If you are a collaborative individual who is passionate about building your technical skillset with an aspiration to become a future leader in your area of expertise, then this is your path!

Throughout the program, Specialists will learn and enhance their technical knowledge and expertise. They will have opportunities to apply theory towards solving problems and developing solutions through on-the-job experience. Specialists will work on significant technical projects pertaining to Vale and the mining industry.

Who are we looking for?​

The Specialist program welcomes recent graduates from Engineering and Geology.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an undergraduate university degree in Engineering or Geology with graduation between May 2019 and May 2022
  • Willingness to develop skills necessary for strategic and leadership positions;

Engineer in Training

We invest millions of dollars a year in the communities where we operate.​

We support a variety of things from local community programs to national education initiatives. Vale is proud to have invested more than $5 million in scholarships for our employees, retirees and their dependents.

Our responsibility as key players in the mining industry is to listen, be approachable and positively impact our communities, coworkers, customers and the environment.

What are we looking for?​

Applicants must have completed or are currently enrolled in an Engineering Undergraduate program

Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training with a professional engineering association within Canada.

Fast learner with a desire to grow professionally and personally

Experience with engineering design software specific to the engineering field of study.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Geologist in Training

Vale’s Geologist-in-Training (GIT) program provides world-class training and development in a well-established training program across Vale operations in Canada.​

What are we looking for?​

Applicants must have completed a Geology or Geological Engineering degree.

Must be eligible to register as a Geologist-in-Training with a professional geoscientist association in Canada.

Fast learner with a desire to grow professionally and personally

Committed to working safely in a team or independent setting.

Strong problem solving and data analysis skills.

Co-ops and Internships

Our co-op and internship positions are exciting opportunities for students to learn about and support our business across the province.
