Port Colborne, Ontario, with a population of about 18,000, is one of the southernmost cities in all of Canada. It’s located on the shores of Lake Erie, just 30 kilometres away from Buffalo, New York, and about 40 kilometres from majestic Niagara Falls.
Because Port Colborne is situated on the Niagara Peninsula, it can be counted on for mild winters and warm summers. The sandy beaches of Lake Erie are a hit in the summer, as are the local bike paths and the nearby wineries.
The city has a strong maritime tradition, as it sits at the mouth of the Welland Canal, and has been a hub for transportation through the Great Lakes, to the St. Lawrence River and beyond, for hundreds of years.
Our Port Colborne Nickel Refinery and Packaging Centre employs about 175 people at a vast 360-acre complex. Here we focus on the production of electrocobalt, the shearing, packaging and distribution of finished nickel products and the processing of precious metals.
