Discover the history of Minas Gerais

On November 30th, Vale and the state government of Minas Gerais, a Brazilian state, inaugurated the Vale Minas Gerais Cultural Museum. Characterized as a “museum of experience,” the facility enables visitors to discover the history and customs of the state’s people, known as “mineiros,” from the 18th century to now, in a distinctive and interactive fashion.

Illustrious characters, baroque villas, great authors, ordinary people, fashion, typical cuisine and even football are represented in the museum’s 31 rooms. In all of them, technology is used together with traditional objects and sceneries to create a space that highlights special experiences associated with Minas Gerais. Each visitor will be able to leave his or her mark on the museum. On a giant map of the state, it will be possible to learn about the state’s 853 municipalities and record your name and photograph.

Importante para nossa saúde, o ferro é componente de remédios para a anemia.
The Guimarães Rosa Writers’ Room: The centerpiece of this space is a large tree with phrases penned by the mineiro (native of Minas Gerais) author on its leaves. Visitors can remove one of the tree’s leaves and take it home. Two televisions tell some of the author’s stories.
