On 8 June, Vale will put on a show featuring the best of dance, music and other performances at the new Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro. Besides marking the revitalization of this historic icon of Brazilian culture, which our company has sponsored, we will be celebrating Vale’s 68th anniversary, which fell on 1 June.
The Municipal Theater, the principal theater in Brazil and one of the most important in Latin America, has been closed for restoration work for eighteen months – the biggest overhaul since the institution was founded in July 1909. The theater has now recovered the original brilliance of its architecture and interior decoration from the beginning of the last century.
By returning one of Rio’s cultural icons to the city’s people, Vale demonstrates its commitment to promoting and conserving the cultural heritage of Brazil and Rio de Janeiro, where our global head office is based. Vale also sponsors various other cultural and historic projects in Brazil.
