Rail transportation plays a fundamental role in Vale’s operations. In all, we operate approximately 10,000 kilometers of railroad tracks in Brazil and we have agreements to use railroads in a number of African countries.
Besides iron ore, our railroads carry steel inputs and products, agricultural goods, fuels, construction materials and forest products.
Our railroad operations are safe and efficient. The Vitória-Minas Railroad, for example, is one of the most productive railroads in Brazil.
