 Regreening in Sudbury

Every year, the Regreening program plants 250,000 trees in Canada, using saplings grown in underground and surface greenhouses. The initiative transforms degraded areas into parks, besides taking care of bird sanctuaries and habitat for wild animals.

The program’s contribution to increasing tree cover in Sudbury has won Vale international acclaim. The initiative is run in partnership with the Vegetation Enhancement Technical Advisory Committee (VETAC), a city government committee.
