As a global company, Vale recognizes the importance of participating in international discussions on human rights and contributing to promoting them in the locations where it operates. Accordingly, in 2009 we approved our Human Rights Policy, which sets guidelines and principles for our activities, reinforcing the commitments made in our Code of Ethical Conduct.
We also launched a Human Rights Guide to orientate employees and define processes to ensure that our activities are underpinned by respect and human dignity.
In August 2010, we joined the Campaign Against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, led by the Associação Brasileira Terra dos Homens (“Brazilian Men of the Earth Association”) and Brazil’s Presidential Human Rights Secretariat.
