Respect for different cultures in the locations where we operate is part of our Human Rights Policy. Accordingly, we organize initiatives to stimulate dialogue, preserve traditions and celebrate diversity.
In order to find better ways of engaging with traditional communities, Vale participated in the production of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM)’s Good Practice Guide: Indigenous Peoples and Mining.
Within the company, our Policy for Relations with Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities is currently going through the approval stage. We are also developing a training program to guide employees and contractors who interact with such communities.
