In Minas Gerais, Samarco has been carrying out the recovery of the channels of Gualaxo and Carmo’s small tributaries, affected by the rupture of Fundão dam, allowing water to get cleaner to them. The company is also running the works for containment along the main channel of the Gualaxo, Doce River and Carmo rivers. Three embankments have already been built, preventing the waste from reaching the rivers.
Samarco has been working continuously in the revegetation of the affected areas close to the rivers. The revegetated area comprise 640 of a total of 800 hectares along the rivers Doce, Carmo and Gualaxo.
Those actions are part of the company’s goal to return the affected areas to the original state they were in before the accident and to make them even better.
