Since the end of January, Vale has taken all measures required to support the prevention of COVID-19 in
its operations and to contribute to the regions in which it operates. Globally, the company complies
with the health and safety protocols established by the authorities and agencies of each country and
aims to support government initiatives in order to alleviate the burden on health care systems. Among
the initiatives are donations for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE), health care
supplies, hygiene materials, rapid test kits, and the swab test for detecting the virus. However,
humanitarian actions are not limited to the acquisition of supplies.
These are the main humanitarian actions already taken, in each country, by Vale to tackle the COVID-19:
Canada
In Canada, Vale has been providing government and communities with food, games, as well as health and

In China, Vale initiatives include a financial aid of 3.3 million RMB for the Red Cross Foundation.

In Malaysia, Vale donations include items such as COVID-19 test kits, hospital equipment, thermometers,

Mozambique
In Mozambique, Vale’s actions involve direct support for the government with donations of hygiene
materials, hospital equipment, PPE for health care system, rapid tests and more. For employees, a

In New Caledonia, donations include items such as surgical masks, gloves and other PPE to hospitals
and the gendarmerie.
Oman

As part of the actions of the Base Metals business in the UK, donations include PPE and financial
aid to food banks. Among the donations are 10,000 N95 masks to public health services and £20,000 to
food banks, all in the Swansea Valley.
