ISE: Vale among the most sustainable companies on B3

Vale will be part of the 14th portfolio of B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE, Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial). The portfolio – to be valid from January 7, 2019 to January 2, 2020 – gathers 35 shares from 30 companies, representing 13 sectors. Together, the companies listed on ISE have a market value of R$1.73 trillion, equivalent to 48.66% of the total value of companies with shares traded on B3, according to data from 11/27.

Besides our whole sustainability agenda, we have recently joined the Novo Mercado (new market) group – the highest level of corporate governance and transparency on the stock market.”

As part of its strategy, Vale aims at becoming a global reference in sustainability within the mining sector by 2030. The company currently protects 8,500km2 of areas equivalent to 5.6 times the total area of its operational units. It also maintains Vale Natural Reserve in Linhares (Espírito Santo), which generates 3 million seedlings per year for the replanting of native forests. In 2017, the company invested approximately R$45 million, through Vale Foundation, in social projects distributed throughout 65 cities in Brazil.
