"We deeply sorry for what happened to our fellows in Morowali and its surroundings. The delivery of this aids and the deployment of emergency response team are a contribution of PT Vale. Hopefully it can ease the burden of the victims," Yusri Yunus said.

Torrential rains that had fallen since the first week of June in a number of areas in Sulawesi resulted in simultaneous flooding at several points. This has caused a flow of refugees and damaged infrastructure including houses, bridges and roads.

One of the vital infrastructure damaged was the bridge connecting the villages of Dampala and Siumbatu in Bahodopi District. The incident resulted in the interruption of logistics distribution, mobility of residents and refugees whose number was estimated to reach hundreds.

At the same time, PT Vale also distributed logistical aids to the victims of flood that also hit the Mahalona Village, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province.
