Disaster Hazard Management System

PT Vale’s three hydroelectric plants comply with the Emergency Action Plan (RTD) required under Law No. 24 of 2007 on Disaster Management, Government Regulation No. 37 of 2010 on Dams, and Government Regulation No. 21 of 2008 on Implementation of Disaster Management.

PT Vale implements the RTD to protect community members and the environment against the development and operation of the hydroelectric plants. The RTD covers Vale’s responsibility in monitoring and maintaining the plants and the disaster warning system, as well as any evacuations necessary in the case of disaster.

Implementation of the RTD is carried out through the Dam Administration Unit (UPB), which is a collaborative effort between Vale and various agencies within the government of Luwu Timur Regency (the Regional Disaster Management Agency, the Sub district Military Command, the Police, the Office of Manpower and Transmigration, the Office of Transportation, the Office of Communication and Information, the Office of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Office of Forestry, the Office of Spatial Planning, the Office of Health, the Indonesian Red Cross, and coordination with Region-IV Office of the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics).
