Sustainability Report

Community

Vale seeks to be a leader in the social field in order to leave a positive legacy for the communities it’s a part of. We are committed to respecting and understanding communities, taking into account their cultural diversity.

We are committed to leveraging the positive results generated by our activities, and avoiding, minimizing, mitigating or compensating for negative social impacts.

The benefits of our activities go beyond the generation of jobs and higher tax revenues. Our investments also generate professional qualifications, infrastructure, development of the local economy, the creation of scientific and technological clusters, and promotion of culture and sports.

Case

A safer railway

A safer railway

A project developed by the Vale Institute of Technology (ITV) seeks to ensure safety and improve the quality of life for the people who work on Vale’s railways and the communities living near them. By developing computing systems, data on flows of people, accidents, equipment and other aspects are centralized.

We then use this information to develop action plans to improve safety along Vale’s railways and in other company operations, helping to reduce the impact of accidents.
