Vale has organized a series of Corporate Social Responsibility projects in the Sultanate that are in line with government efforts and strategies to improve the community and the standard of living. These CSR projects focus on the following areas:

 

Since Vale arrived to Oman in 2012, we have worked to sustainably develop the surrounding communities. Some of our initiatives that we have done are:

Handicapped Open Day​ 

Vale Volunteers along with other Volunteers from Jusoor, OQ and Sohar Aluminum joint effort and organize Handicapped open Day for Handicapped Associations.

Plant Tree Initiative

Around 100 volunteers from Vale joined with contractors and Suhar Municipality employees lent their hands on an environmental initiative through planting 2000 trees on the Highway. 


 

Creativity Hall

Vale created an effective and interactive environment for the students by providing 3 Creativity Halls in different schools where they can practice varieties of activities related to their studies and skills.


 

Outward Bound Oman

Outward Bound Oman

Vale is empowering the nation’s youth by joining forces with Outward Bound Oman, a not for profit organization that aims to unlock human potential through challenging outdoor activities, to develop a dedicated program of self-discovery and identity building for students from Liwa and Sohar called “Discover Yourself”. The initiative aims to develop their leadership skills and prepare them to embark on a successful professional career.

a runs a series of 10 volunteerism actions every year engaging our Vale Volunteers (employees) and their families by building partnerships with local communities & NGOs.

 

 
​Agriculture Research Project

Agriculture Research Project

Vale partnered with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and University Federal Viçosa (UFV), the leading agricultural educational institute in Brazil and South America, to research advanced biotechnologies and cutting-edge preventative methods to improve the cultivation of Mango and Lime trees in North Al Batinah Governorate. This initiative is helping secure sustainable growth for Al Batinah’s agriculture industry.

 
 

Acadmiyat Vale Al Kurawiyah

Acadmiyat aims to contribute to people’s full development and reinforce a sport that is a national passion in Oman, through the formation of citizen-athletes and the systematization of practical training, adding value to communities.

Beach Cleanup Initiative

Vale Volunteers joined hands with local communities to clean Harmool beach in Liwa. The volunteers have collected 150 trash bags of different waste materials including plastic, glass, paper, rocks, wood, rubber and left-over food which cause pollution and threat marine life.


 


 

​Ashriqi Hall

Vale contributed to the activation of the Al Had Sport Team Multipurpose Center by providing materials and equipment necessary for the center operations.

 

Aquaponic System Unit
 

Aquaponic System Unit

Vale purchased all materials to develop a food production system that combines conventional aquaculture with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. The system enabled students to have a knowledge unit that work to grow plants in water to produce tomatoes, cucumber & green herbs.


 
​Traffic safety curriculum

Traffic safety curriculum and Virtual Reality System

Vale developed and sponsored a curriculum and a virtual reality system for school students (Grade 1-4) about the Traffic Safety aiming to raise the students' awareness on this subject. The curriculum consists of three books.

1- The basic book of the traffic Safety

2- Activities book

3- Stories of the Traffic Safety book

 
 
​Knowledge Center 

Knowledge Center

Vale activated a local knowledge center in the community of Uqdate AlMawanie by providing materials and equipment necessary for the operation of the center.


 


 

Artificial Reefs  

Creation of Artificial Reefs & Demarcation Buoys for the local fishing community

Identifying In order to diversify the marine environment in North Al Batinah, Vale worked with the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries to provide artificial reefs and demarcation buoys in the Wilayat of Liwa. The project aims to enhance biodiversity in non-restricted fishing areas for commercial use by increasing the catch of healthy stock for local fishermen.

Anot-for-profit foundation established by Vale, Sohar Aluminum and ORPIC to leverage their commitment to sustainable development. It was officially recognized as the first CSR foundation in Oman.
