Learn about the Main Modes of Transmission of the Coronavirus and Protect Yourself

Coronavirus is a respiratory virus and is transmitted through droplets when we cough, sneeze or speak. For this reason, the World Health Organization (WHO) shares guidance with the population, such as avoiding crowded places where a safe distance is not possible. Check below some of these instructions that help in the prevention and non-dissemination of the COVID-19.

  • Keep a distance of about two meters from other people
  • Cover mouth and nose with arm/elbow when coughing or sneezing
  • Avoid physical contact – handshakes, kisses, and hugs
  • Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Do not share objects such as a keyboard or cell phone
  • Wash your hands immediately after touching elevator buttons, door handles, ATMs, and handrails
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds and use alcohol-based hand rub.

The Ministry of Health recommends that meetings are held virtually, non-essential trips are postponed or canceled and, whenever possible, people work from home (home office).

General Hygiene

For household cleaning, it is recommended to use the usual products, but the use of bleach (in a solution of one part of bleach to nine parts of water) is best to disinfect surfaces.

To clean dishes and clothes, it is recommended to use detergents for each case. It is also important to separate clothes from infected people so that laundry is done separately. If it is not possible to wash them immediately, it is recommended that they are stored in plastic garbage bags until they are washed.
