6/23/2016 5:00 PM

A total of 278 rural properties are receiving assistance from the Program for Resumption of Farming Activities, as outlined in the Agreement signed by Samarco, its shareholders Vale and BHP Billiton, the federal government and the state governments of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo. The support provided to the rural producers located between the municipality of Mariana and the Risoleta Neves Hydropower Plant has the objective of helping them to resume their livelihood and other activities on the properties that were impacted by the collapse of the Fundão dam.

So far, 177 thousand meters of fence have been put in around the impacted properties. In addition, teams formed by zootechnicians, agronomists and farming technicians are helping them produce as before, by performing soil analysis, preparing the land by applying fertilizer and soil amendments, planting and removing underbrush.
