The presence of the Renova Foundation in discussion forums on sustainable development reinforces the entity's commitment in establishing a dialogue with all of society. Last Friday (25/11), Renova representatives shared action strategies in two events.
Sustainable Development Forum
The Foundation's recovery and compensation programs were presented during the 9th Sustainable Development Forum of the Rio Doce Krenak Territory, in Itueta (MG). The initiative gathered social movements, community leaders and the public and private sectors to discuss integrated actions for the development of the territory.
“It was an opportunity to clarify Renova's actions and hear about points for improvement from the community. The forum opened doors for future partnerships with the organizers – Sebrae Minas and the NGO Rede Vidas, of Itueta – and contributed to improve the relationship, in a positive interaction between the state and civil society”, José Luiz Furquim, executive director of Socioeconomic Programs highlights, who participated in the event together with Euzimar Rosado, coordinator of Renova's Socioenvironmental Programs.
Within the programming of the I DOC Regência, in Linhares (ES), the debate “Recovery and mitigation of the effects of the mud on the Rio Doce and the sea” counted with the presence of Allan Suhett Reis, who works in the environmental recovery field, and Sérgio Mileipe, project manager in ES, both from the Renova Foundation, and members of the ICMBio and the community.
The Renova representatives reinforced the importance of collective construction in jointly seeking solutions, with a focus on sustainability and prevention. "In partnership with the environmental bodies and with society, we will be able to recover and repair part of the damage caused", Mileipe affirmed. Among the themes approached by them during the discussions were the Integrated Environmental Recovery Plan (PRAI), which consolidates the actions in course for the recomposition of the characteristics of the rivers and their surroundings, and the actions plan for the rainy season.
The Renova Foundation has the mission of implementing and managing the reparation, restoration and reconstruction programs for the regions impacted by the bursting of the Fundão dam, located in the subdistrict of Bento Rodrigues, in Mariana, Minas Gerais.
The Foundation's role is to restore and reestablish the communities and the resources impacted by the bursting and also substitute or compensate what cannot be remedied, always in an efficient, proper, transparent and ethical manner.
