Samarco has been performing since the accident with the Fundão dam on November 5, the constant monitoring of water quality in dozens of spots along the Doce River and a large stretch of coastline. The results at five beaches in the mouth region indicate that despite the cloudy water in some places, there is no occurrence of heavy metals or other elements associated with the tailings dam at inadequate concentrations for bathing. All results have been made available to environmental agencies. The company is conducting several studies on the quality of water and sediments, bathing beaches, fish quality, among others, which will be released soon.
